Art Weekend Sausalito: A Benefit Art Sale For The Sausalito Center For The Arts

The Sausalito Art Festival Foundation invites you to apply to be part of the inaugural exhibition at the Sausalito Center For The Arts.

On October 14-16, the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation (SAFF) will hold Art Weekend Sausalito, a juried, benefit art sale with proceeds donated to the Sausalito Center For The Arts (SCA). The Mission of the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation is to “encourage, promote and support the arts for the community,” and SCA falls squarely within our Mission.

Since temporarily loosing our Festival location to a homeless encampment, SAFF has been working with SCA to support the arts through quality events. Our first event, Art For Ukraine, was a financial success with proceeds donated to the people of Ukraine for humanitarian aid.

The event demonstrated that SCA, located in downtown Sausalito, is an ideal location for the sale of art with approximately 50% of the sales coming from traditional Sausalito Art Festival ticket buyers, and 50% coming from “off the street buyers.”

Art Weekend Sausalito will be the inaugural exhibition at the newly remodeled Center and will be limited to no more than 100 artists, each selling 2-3 pieces of art. Our goal is to give a large group of artists exposure in this new venue while offering the public a varied assortment of creative expression.

This event will be limited to 2-D work that can be hung, due to the current lack of display materials in the venue. In the future, the venue will be capable of exhibiting all categories of work but for this event we seek:

  • Painting      

  • Watercolor

  • Drawing

  • Photography

  • Mixed Media

  • Printmaking

  • Digital

Art Weekend Sausalito will be promoted via the Sausalito Art Festival’s extensive email lists of previous Festival ticket buyers, Google Keywords, Social Media channels, PR, and the marketing channels managed by the City of Sausalito.

Our goal is to physically sell the artwork in person on the days of the events, therefore, we ask artists to deliver artwork to the exhibit venue in Sausalito.

Artist Contract

I release the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation (SAFF) and all of their duly appointed Members, employees, volunteers, patrons, and representatives of all liability and responsibility for damages or loss suffered before, during or after the Art Weekend Sausalito event or as a result of the display of my work, equipment or materials.

As a participating Artist in Art Weekend Sausalito, October 14-16, I further agree to the following:

  • All work must be original, handcrafted work. Artist guarantees the accuracy of the description of the works presented and the authenticity of the work as the creation of their own hands.

  • Work done by a production studio is not acceptable. All work must be designed and executed by the accepted artist. Artwork produced with commercially acquired casts, molds, prefabricated forms, studio volume production or other commercial methods will not be permitted.

  • The sale of non-original promotional items is prohibited.

  • The event reserves the right to remove any works that do not meet the standards set forth in the selection process.

  • I understand that Art Weekend Sausalito is a commission event with the following sales structure for the sale of all art:

    • 80% of the gross sale to artist

    • 20% commission to the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation

  • The Sausalito Art Festival Foundation will donate 100% of its commission to the Sausalito Center For The Arts.

  • Sales will occur through a Point of Sale system operated by SAFF. Artist commission checks will be issues within two-weeks of event completion.

  • Artists are welcome to be on the event site during the event.

  • I agree that SAFF has the right to use images of my art for marketing purposes.

I understand that the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation reserves the right to revise these regulations and/or terminate this agreement at its sole discretion.
