A native of Berkeley, California, John Gavrilis now lives along the Monterey Peninsula.  His photographic career began in the early 70's, capturing many of the rock 'n roll legions of the San Francisco music scene.  For the past 30 years, with the use of a large format view camera, he has focused on portraits of nature.

His award-winning photographs are in various corporate and private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe.

The following images document his recent travels along the Colorado River, through the Grand Canyon.  This is a sampling from his southwest series of photographs.
